Weight
loss itself is an
epidemic. With more
than 50% of the
American population
overweight or
nearing obesity,
it's no wonder more
and more are turning
to their doctors for
help on getting
their weight under
control.
Unfortunately, it's
not quite the
perfect fix. With it
comes the adverse
side effects and
dependency which can
quickly develop by
taking diet pills |

Diet
Pills
Among the
prescription
diet pills
doctors
prescribe
are
Orilistat,
Phentermine
and Meridian.
Doctors
should work
closely with
their
patients
when
prescribing
these drugs,
especially
if the
patient is
substantially
overweight.
Of course,
responsibility
for the
patient's
well-being
ultimately
falls upon
the patient
. If you
hare using
diet pills
and have any
doubts about
the drug's
effects upon
your body
and mind,
consult your
doctor. Do
not wait
until your
next
scheduled
appointment. |

The Nature
of Diet
Pills
Overweight
and with the
best of
intentions
to lose
weight and
get their
lives under
control,
diet pill
users can
easily
become
dependent
and
addicted.
Dieters fear
they'll gain
what weight
was lost
coupled with
the fact
when they do
try to stop
using their
diet pills,
they feel
tired and
lethargic as
diet pills
are mainly
amphetamines.
Many diet
pill abusers
need help in
falling
asleep at
night as the
uppers have
either not
worn off or
they want to
keep the
dosage even
so as not to
eat late at
night.
Sleeping
aides are
then used
and as well,
abused. It's
a cycle the
chronic diet
pill abuser
knows only
too well.
Nervousness,
anxiety,
restlessness,
hyperactivity
and a need
to control
dominate
their lives.
The abuse on
the body has
its toll and
can start to
break down
major organs
including
the heart.
Side effects
can include:
headaches,
heart
arrhythmias
and
palpitations,
congestive
heart
failure or
heart
attack,
stroke, dry
mouth,
vomiting and
diarrhea or
constipation,
intestinal
disturbances,
tightness in
chest,
tingling in
extremities,
excessive
perspiration,
dizziness,
hair loss,
disruption
in menstrual
cycle,
change in
sex drive,
blurred
vision,
fever and
urinary
tract
problems.
Overdoses
can cause
tremors,
confusion,
hallucinations,
shallow
breathing,
renal
failure,
heart attack
and
convulsions. |

Anorexic &
Bulimic
The anorexic
and bulimic
both have
special
issues right
out of the
gate. Hiding
the fact
they already
self abuse
their
bodies, this
type of
personality
will
manipulate
their
physicians
into
prescribing
diet aides,
and then
will further
self
medicate by
using
laxatives or
over the
counter
medications
including
the newest
product on
the market,
Alli which
is a fat
blocker. The
anorexic is
much easier
to identify
while the
bulimic may
be binging
more than
purging and
be
substantially
overweight.
